Laura Shaip Lengel (Director) is the new Director of Dance Arts Studio beginning July 1, 2016. Laura began dance training in Danville, VA and attended Mary Washington College earning a BA Degree in Dance. After performing with the Richmond Ballet Theater and in Unto These Hills in Cherokee, NC, she settled in Macon. Laura has taught ballet, tap, jazz, and modern dance at Dance Arts Studio, Wesleyan College, Gladys Lasky School of Ballet, and Macon School of Gymnastics.

Laura has served on the board for Middle Georgia Youth Ballet since 1997, the last three years as president, and is a faculty member. She serves as an assistant director for Nutcracker of Middle Georgia and leads Worship Moves dance ministry at Ingleside Baptist Church.

Jean Weaver (Ballet Instructor) has been active on the dance and theatrical scene in the Middle Georgia area for more than 40 years. A fifth generation Maconite, Ms. Weaver studied at the New York School of Ballet and received her teaching training at the Royal Academy of Dance in Toronto and the Dance Educators of America Training School for Teachers at Western Kentucky University. She is Artistic Director of the ‘Nutcracker Ballet’ produced each Christmas by Nutcracker of Middle Georgia, which was founded in 1985 by Mrs. Weaver. She is also co founder of the Middle Georgia Youth Ballet.

Alice Strawn Sheridan (Ballet Instructor) began her ballet training in Macon, Georgia with Jean Weaver at Dance Arts Studio and also with Gladys Lasky. She attended the North Carolina School of Arts in Winston-Salem, North Carolina and danced professionally with the Milwaukee Ballet Company. A native Maconite, Alice owned and operated Ballet Academy of Macon for 4 years.

Lindsay Misch Crisp (Ballet, Pre-Jazz, and Modern Instructor) trained in Macon before graduating from the University of Georgia with a degree in dance. She currently serves on the faculty at Vineville Academy.
